Here at Stellar Living, none of our communities could ever be considered “boring.” Every community has a jam-packed recreation schedule of 40-50 on- and off-site activities, including weekly outings and guest performers. The Palms at Sun City Assisted & Senior Living is no exception. Located near the majestic Sonoran Desert, Sun City has its fair share of fun activities–check out this post to see just a few of your amazing options. But you don’t even have to leave home to have a great time! Here are a few of the fun activities we’ve had this year at The Palms at Sun City.
Holiday Celebrations
The Palms celebrates the holidays in style! For the fourth of July, this community had a delicious American barbecue, complete with live music and dancing!
Mother’s Day featured a special brunch with special guest visitors–our residents’ daughters and granddaughters. Note the mimosas and beautiful floral dessert!
Father’s Day included a flight of drinks from around the world. It looks like these fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers had a pretty great time.
For Easter, staff hid eggs for Assisted Living residents to find. The eggs contained stuffed animals, candy, and “Golden Tickets” that could be redeemed for special extras. The residents were so excited to find and collect eggs.
Don’t forget the green beer, green decor, and karaoke for St. Patrick’s Day! It looks like there may have been a little dancing, too.
This New Year’s Eve bash was one to remember. More live music, balloons, decorations, party hats, and celebratory drinks…what more could you ask for?
For Christmas, residents took a ride in a horse-drawn sleigh. They also enjoyed carolers, Christmas cookies, and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Klaus.
Just for Fun
It doesn’t have to be a holiday or even a birthday to enjoy life at The Palms. Pool fun is a daily occurrence here! There are regular water aerobics classes, or just enjoy a relaxing swim in the pool anytime.
Residents also enjoy fun crafts, like this butterfly art project. Sun City can get pretty hot during the summer months, so indoor activities like craft projects are a great choice.
A romantic Italian dinner in February? Why not! The Palms’ “That’s Amore” dinner was a success. Residents dressed up and enjoyed the Italian food, fancy tablecloths, and Italian flag decorations.
Residents also had a holiday craft show, where they had the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents. From wreaths and paper crafts to wood carvings, there was something for everyone.
As you can see, the Palms residents had a great time on an outing to a high tea at the Pink Door Tea House. They drank fancy tea and ate tiny sandwiches, and had fun in their tea hats.
Birthday Parties
Each resident feels special at The Palms, and birthdays are a great time to show it. One resident who loves giraffes had a very special 102nd birthday party. What a life she’s lived!
Military personnel are loved and celebrated, too. This was one World War II veteran’s 100th birthday, which included military honors to recognize his service for our country.
Special musical guests regularly attend monthly birthday parties for both Independent and Assisted Living residents. This one was a rockin’ good time!
Guest Performers
Local musicians regularly visit the Palms to share their talents and entertain community residents. They enjoy live music both indoors and outside, weather permitting.
Carolers came to perform for The Palms’ annual Christmas party! They even put on a special show, to much applause and appreciation.
The Tremble Clefs, a local singing organization that supports Parkison’s research, came to perform for senior living residents.
The holiday season began with a festive performance from the Golden Girls and Silver Guys. They sang, danced, and generally had a great time with The Palms residents.
