Our directors and much of our staff at Stellar Living have been in this business for well over a decade. During this time, we’ve noticed some needs within our communities, neighborhoods, and among our staff. We respond as best we can, but sometimes being a business creates limitations to how we can serve. We have also noticed that many people in our communities want to help those in need, but aren’t sure how to begin. Giving can be complicated, and not everyone wears their hardship on their sleeve.
That’s why we started the Stellar Senior Living Foundation. The Foundation helps us all give back in simple, impactful ways. Through it, our collective donations provide life-changing educational opportunities and hardship relief to our community members and their families, our employees and their families, and local chapters of our partnering organizations.
Stellar Senior Living Foundation: Goals
Currently, our goals are to make the lives of 10,000+ people significantly better and give away one million dollars by 2030. As we kickstart the foundation, the owners of Stellar Senior Living and founders of the Stellar Senior Living Foundation pledge to match every gift, penny for penny, up to the first $200,000.
2023 Report
We’re proud to say that the Stellar Senior Living Foundation is already giving back and helping us give to those around us. We are a registered nonprofit with 501(c)(3) status, which means our donors’ gifts are tax-deductible. In our first year, the Stellar Living Foundation proudly raised over $27,000, with 454 donations. Throughout 2023, we also hosted 25 community fundraising events. Our efforts were directed towards supporting four outstanding organizations, including the Alzheimer’s Association, Honor Flight Foundation, Gail S. Halvorsen Foundation (also called the Candy Bomber Foundation), and Utah Down Syndrome Foundation.
2024 Report
In 2024, we experienced incredible growth and raised over $340,000. We continued hosting dinners, auctions, carnivals, in-person gatherings, and virtual fundraising events. For example, Bear Creek Assisted & Senior Living, one of our amazing communities in Colorado Springs, raised over $2,000 at a Christmas Silent Auction (learn more here). These events allowed us to connect with more people and expand our reach. LifeLoop and Ovation Hospice became new corporate sponsors as well. Stellar Senior Living employees set up recurring gifts to help fellow staff members and community members.
We used these funds to continue to support the Alzheimer’s Association and the Gail S. Halvorsen Foundation (also called the Candy Bomber Foundation). We also provided funding to individuals and families facing hardship through donations to nonprofit organizations specializing in essential services. Additionally, we expanded Milo’s Project, offering more employment opportunities to individuals with special needs.
2025 Goals
In 2025, we’ve continued supporting these organizations and added a focus on giving to individuals in our communities who need our help. So far, we’ve helped more than 20 Stellar Living employees with medical expenses, scholarships, and financial relief. We continue to look for more needs within our communities, for staff members, residents, and families. Other 2025 goals include:
- Establish Milo’s Project in every Stellar Senior Living community, employing over 100 individuals with special needs or different abilities.
- Increase our nonprofit partnerships, broadening our network of supported organizations.
- Grow our community outreach, ensuring more residents are aware of and engaged with our mission.
- Donate $200,000 to nonprofit organizations and individuals in need.
We also recently raised $29,472 at our first annual Day of Giving at all our communities, accompanied by an online auction. These are just a few of the ways we’ve continued to grow our ability to help and support.
Stellar Senior Living Foundation: Responsible Giving
Because the Foundation’s administrative expenses are covered by Stellar Living, every dollar raised by the Foundation is destined for charitable use. The Foundation’s philosophy is to say “yes” to as many requests for help as possible as its resources grow.
The Stellar Senior Living Foundation exists to make meaningful generosity simple and impactful. Donors have received receipts and year-end impact reports, and the general public can view our annual benefit report detailing 2024’s finances. Every dollar goes to someone in need, and we are transparent in how this money gets spent. We hope our donations create a ripple effect and build a culture of care that goes beyond our communities, staff, and families. We hope you’ll join us and help us say “yes” to even more people in need, in 2025 and beyond.
