  • Pearland Town Center, also about a mile away, is home to Barnes & Noble, H&M, Kendra Scott, the Hallmark Store, and more shopping destinations. Eat at Red Robin, Fish City Grill, or Gringo’s Tex-Mex, to name a few.

  • Clear Creek Golf Club boasts the “best conditioned golf club in South Houston,” so it’s well worth the 10-minute drive. The course is challenging, but the pace is relaxed.

 

Museums & Theater

  • Nearby Pearl Theater is a great community theater venue, with a variety of performances year-round. Ticket prices are extremely affordable, and there isn’t a bad seat in the house.
  • The 1940 Air Terminal Museum, located at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, is housed in a beautiful original Art Deco building and contains nearly 100 years of aviation history. Visitors say the tour guides are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and the museum has plenty to offer.
  • Just 20 minutes away, Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) offers four floors of exploration, learning, and fun. The museum is popular, so plan to arrive at or before 9am to park in the adjoining garage. See everything from dinosaurs, ancient Egyptian artifacts, and gemstones, to quantum chemistry, astrophysics, and Fabergé eggs. 

 

Outdoor Recreation

  • Hang out at Croix Memorial Park, with beautiful shade trees, well-maintained grass, and flower gardens. There are also clean bathrooms and a playground for any visiting little ones.
  • Independence Park in nearby Pearland has a great paved walking trail, Farmer’s Markets and other events, a playground, and dog-friendly areas.
  • Bayou Wildlife Zoo is just a 30-minute drive from Orchard Park at Southfork. This zoo offers a safari tram experience that’s great for seniors who want to spend time outdoors without a lot of walking.
  • Froberg’s Farm is a great place to spend a day. Go during the spring for blackberries and peas, summer to pick strawberries, enjoy their famous fall festival, or just visit the country store for farmer’s market vegetables, pie, homemade canned goods, and a picnic under the big oak trees.
