You might still be wondering…
Can we afford Winslow Court Assisted Senior Living in Colorado Springs?
Most of our community members come from modest backgrounds, and many find that their retirement funds and social security benefits cover the cost of living here. In fact, our monthly rates are comparable to what many retirees spend maintaining their own homes—without the stress of upkeep, rising utility costs, or unexpected repairs.
How do community members get around outside the community?
We offer transportation for scheduled medical appointments and weekly group outings, including trips to Cripple Creek, the YMCA, and the local senior center. For appointments that fall outside of our regular schedule, we do our best to accommodate or help coordinate other transportation options.
How’s the food?
We hear it all the time—“the food here is so much better than I expected.” From grilled salmon to the locally famous Reuben sandwich, every meal is made from scratch and served restaurant-style from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. There’s a full à la carte menu available alongside rotating specials, and the dining room staff notice when someone’s not at their usual table. Team members check in on folks personally, offering soup or a warm meal if someone isn’t feeling up to coming out.
Has the community been updated recently?
Yes. While Winslow Court has a long history in Colorado Springs, the building has been significantly updated in recent years. From fresh interiors to well-maintained outdoor courtyards, the community feels clean, warm, and well cared for—something visitors often mention when they tour. Some families even remember visiting their grandparent or great-grandparent here years ago, and now they’re back exploring options for their parent. Time and again, we hear the same general reaction: Wow—this place looks completely different than I remember, in the best way.
How are the apartments?
Winslow Court’s apartments were originally built as officer housing for Ent Air Force Base, which means they’re more spacious and thoughtfully laid out than most senior living units in the area. Each apartment includes a full kitchen, generous closets, and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. Because they were designed for families, these layouts feel more like true homes—not just senior housing. Many community members say it’s one of the reasons they felt comfortable moving in.
What if only one of us needs care?
Winslow Court is one of the few communities in the area that offers Care Level 0—a flexible option designed for couples. It allows both people to live together in the same apartment, even if only one needs support. The partner who doesn’t need care is admitted at Care Level 0, which means they’re part of the assisted living community but don’t pay for extra services they don’t use. It’s a thoughtful way to stay together, avoid unnecessary costs, and have help available if anything changes.
Do I have to move apartments if my care needs change?
No. One of the things families love most about Winslow Court is that you can stay in your apartment, even if you begin needing more care over time. Because we’re licensed for assisted living throughout the community, there’s no need to relocate to a different unit just to receive support. It’s all about continuity—of care, comfort, and daily life.
Is it true you have a dog park?
We do—and it’s not just a patch of grass. Our fully enclosed dog park is large enough for pups to run and play freely, and we’ve even installed dog doors in select ground-floor apartments so community members can let their pets out without needing to go outside themselves. We also provide cleanup services, making pet ownership easier and more sustainable, even as needs change.
What’s the social life like?
Winslow Court is full of life and activity. With 40 to 50 events each week—including live music, daily fitness classes, Bible study, and outings to local favorites—there’s always something happening. Our central living room hosts everything from bingo to harp concerts, and even family dinner nights that draw big crowds (and lots of desserts!).
You’ll also meet Janet at the front desk—our concierge of 24 years, known for remembering names, noticing the little things, and handing out hugs or gifts to new visitors. She’s one of the many reasons this place feels like home from the very first visit.
Do you accept Medicaid?
No, Winslow Court is a private-pay community and does not accept Medicaid. However, many of our community members use a combination of Social Security, pensions, retirement savings, or long-term care insurance to help cover the cost of living here. We’re always available to talk through what’s included and help you assess whether our community is the right financial fit.
What if I have more questions?
We’re here to talk through anything on your mind. Whether you’re wondering about daily routines, apartment sizes, or how to talk to a loved one about making a move, our team is ready to help—no pressure, no rush.
The care is full circle here.
The Stellar Living Foundation was created to make generosity a shared experience. Community members, team members, community partners, leadership, and owners all contribute to the circle of care. Whether it’s supporting a staff member through a crisis, helping a community member's grandchild go to college, or giving back to local organizations, the Foundation is how we lift each other up.
Hi there! I’m Keli Childs, the Executive Director of Winslow Court.
